Took his degree in medicine at Leiden in 1757. 'He then settled at Sommelsdijk, but moved to The Hague in 1760, where he soon had a large practice. ... published some good treatises, for instance: 'Historia constitutionis...'...': Van der Aa, B, p. 311: NNBW vol. IV, 240: BMN vol. I, p. 230: In this publication the author records his observations made on the Dutch islands of Overflakkee and Goedereede regarding billious fevers, diarrhoea and other symptoms which he believed to be due to worm infections. His book [reprinted 10 years later in Nurnberg by Ackermann, 1779] was one of the most important contributions to the then ongoing discussion of "worm fevers". Blake, p. 59: A very good copy.
